Thank you to all who came out for the first Urban Village Fete at Greenwich Peninsula held on Sunday May 10. Over 10,000 visitors enjoyed the free event, set in Peninsula Gardens.
Highlights included Ricardo Cavolo’s amazing display of bespoke flags for NOW Gallery, the inspired Soul Sanctuary Gospel Choir and dance events with Swing Patrol and Folk Dance Remix.
Shoppers browsed a range of curated market stalls featuring the likes of Tracey Neuls and Tom Dixon. We were treated to talks led by Robert Elms, workshops with The House of Fairy Tales and Eco Games. Charity Shop DJ played great nostalgic tunes followed by an amazing set by Gilles Peterson playing soul, jazz and funk.
Produced in association with HemingwayDesign, the fete also marked the opening of the Greenwich Peninsula’s new gardens – an oasis of carefully cultivated green space designed by Tom Dixon’s Design Research Studio and jointly landscaped by Alys Fowler and Thomas Hoblyn.
